We cannot afford a US lawyer, and the case to be is of course in U.S. We have a relative there who can assist us. What can we do? Anybody please help.

The government only provides legal assistance in criminal matters, for US citizens, when one can not be afforded. Depending on the nature of the suit, perhaps a non-profit will assist, I don’t know enough about your claim to point you towards a specific one.
