Criminal Law (DVD)

Crime Thriller DVD – Criminal Law is an inadvertently legal thriller wherein criminal defense attorney Ben Chase (Gary Oldman) decides to prove that his client Martin Thiel (Kevin Bacon) is in fact a serial killer, despite the acquittal that Ben won for him. When new murders occur, Ben takes matters into his own hands, beginning a psychological battle of wills with Martin. Gary Oldman gives an excellent performance as the criminal defense attorney with a conscience, and Kevin Bacon is intriguing and ambiguous as the killer. The action sequences — particularly when Ben finds a body in the rain in a deserted park — are terrific as is the fast-paced direction by Martin Campbell. However, the film cannot overcome its ludicrous premise or its laughable, totally unbelievable courtroom sequences. Criminal Law, if not taken very seriously and with more than a grain of salt, can be entertaining, but it fails miserably when compared to accurate, exciting legal thrillers such as Primal Fear. – Criminal Law (DVD)

The Accused (DVD)

Courtroom Drama DVD – Based on a real-life 1983 incident, The Accused tells the story of Sarah Tobias (Jodie Foster), a working-class party girl who likes to live it up with her friends and flirt hard with the guys. After a fight with her boyfriend, she heads to a local bar to cool down — and after a few drinks, plus some dancing and flirting, she finds herself thrown on top of a pinball machine and gang-raped by a bunch of locals, while others watch and cheer the proceedings. District attorney Kathryn Murphy (Kelly McGillis) takes Sarah’s case but quickly negotiates a plea bargain in which the attackers’ charges are reduced to reckless endangerment. Her reason: defense attorneys could use Sarah’s not-so-pretty past to paint her as “asking for it,” getting their clients off completely. But a stunned Sarah accuses Murphy of selling her out, and when the lawyer sees how the incident continues to destroy Sarah’s life, she decides she must seek true justice. This time, she goes after the crowd of onlookers for “criminal solicitation” — those who were egging the rapists on. Foster won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance. – The Accused (DVD)

I’m from the US and this might be a dumb question but I was wondering where do you look for an immigration lawyer for immigration to Canada? When people say they hire an immigration lawyer or talk to one for cosulation, do they look in their country of residence for one or do they have to go to Canada to find one for immigration to Canada? I kinda figured you would have to go to Canada due to different laws in different countries. But anyway, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I’m not sure you need a lawyer for that but you can try finding one at sites like the one below. Anyways, good luck!

If I become incapacitated, will my brother-in-law become attorney-in-fact for my husband too?
My husband has dementia. If I die, my executor needs to manage the funds in my husbands interest. How do I automatically give my executor the POA for my husband?
If anyone is interested — here’s the answer: My husbands POA shows me as his agent and I can show others as "Successor Agents" in the event that I am unwilling or unable (or dead) to fulfil the role.

No, the buck stops with the specific POA named. RJ

Personal Injury Attorney Shana Black in San Diego is an intelligent aggressive attorney who will fight to get all that you are entitled to under the law.

If you have been involved in an auto accident or other type of accident, it is of great importance that you get the immediate medical attention that you may need. Many times in after an accident, your body will not feel any pain for a few days. Therefore, just because you do not feel immediate pain after the auto accident, do not assume you were not injured. There is a good chance that in a day or two you will begin to feel pain in your neck, lower and upper back, leg, or other area of your body.

Due to the stress of the situation and the following days dealing with the insurance companies, adjusters, and looking for a good personal injury lawyer, it is natural that one will forget exactly what happened in the accident, the pains they feel, and so forth. Therefore, it is a very good idea that you get a notepad of paper and keep track of the pains you feel, the days you go to visit the doctor, the days you miss from work, and any other event out of the ordinary that may be related to the auto accident. By doing this, months later when your personal injury attorney wants to recover lost wages due to the auto accident for example, you will know exactly what days you missed from work.

If you have been involved in an auto accident and have been injured, you may want to call San Diego attorney Shana Black.

None of the above is legal advice. Call attorney Shana Black or another attorney if you need legal advice.

We had a malpractice case that our lawyer was suppose to be pursuing. But did not follow threw and there were medical records that wasn’t gotten and we was told that our case was in the millions. But then before the statue of limitation ran out they said we didn’t have a case.so can we sue our former lawyer for legal malpractice.

I’m sorry to hear about your dilemma. Hopefully I can provide you with some insight.

In my experience, the majority of the situations where malpractice suits have been attempted are similar to your own situation. That being said, very few of these are ever followed through because there are so may stipulations involved.

You will have to prove that your lawyer did in fact breach the standard of care that governs the attorney-client protocol. In layman’s terms, you have to determine if what your attorney did was not simply poor strategy on their part, but due to a mistake that no other attorney worth a pinch of salt would make. Legal representation can be complicated for those outside of the industry to fully understand, so you may need an expert in the field to help you figure out if your lawyer is in the wrong. [I notice you were pursuing a malpractice case when this happened, which makes me especially weary. Be aware that some things the general public perceives are not as unabiding as they seem]

I’ll give you an example where you may not have a case. Say for example I’m representing you, and at first everything looks all hunky-dory, but as we move forward new evidence emerges that can completely destroy your case. As your attorney, and out of respect for you, I’d rather end at that point than have the case drag on through trial where you would lose more money. I still have to do what’s in YOUR best interest- you wouldn’t want to lose $ would you?

If however you are still concerned, contact your local Bar Assoc., they will look into it

Best Regards
